Aspen Auto Clinic Supports The Home Front Cares

Aspen Auto Clinic has been giving back to local charities and organizations in Colorado Springs since they first opened their doors in 2001.  Many schools, youth organizations, missions, animal rescue centers, and veterans groups have been recipients of donations from Greg Bunch, President and CEO of Aspen Auto Clinic.  The Home Front Cares Inc. one of the organizations that Aspen Auto Clinic helps support.The Home Front Cares Inc. is an emergency financial bridge for our Colorado service members, veterans and military families that is based in Colorado Springs, CO. THFC is in their 10th year of saving the lives of hundreds of service members and their families.  This honorable organization in their first 9 years has been able to give emergency assistance of $5 million to these people and has been able to aid  99% of the time within 24 hours!

Aspen Auto Clinic and our team members have been blessed to work with The Home Front Cares in several ways in the past few years from assisting with much needed repairs on veterans cars to doing special promotions to bring in donations for this worthy cause. 

In 2013, Aspen contributed to the printing costs for THFC newsletters, car repairs for many THFC veteran’s vehicles, and attended the annual For The Love of Our Troops dinner in October at the Broadmoor.  The event was attended by many military and community leaders and brought in over $220,000.  The event also touched the heart of Aspen’s Leadership team and inspired the idea of the Thanksgiving promotion that was launched just weeks after attending this event.

In November 2013,  Aspen Auto Clinic sent out thank you cards to all of our loyal customers with a $20 gift Aspen card inside.  Along with the card we added a note that all gift cards redeemed by the end of the year, Aspen would donate $5 from each to The Home Front Cares.  Aspen’s customers flooded us with their response and brought in over 400 of the gift cards in the six remaining weeks of the year!

Owner Greg Bunch was honored to be able to present to The Home Front Cares Board of Directors a donation check for $3000.00 as a result of that mailing.  Nick Cancino, Operations Manager for Aspen Auto Clinic has a big heart for those who serve our country, both past and present and is grateful for the sacrifices they make to keep our country free.  Greg and his wife Elaina (who was raised in the military) both have great appreciation for all our military members and their families.  I (Robbie) was born and raised military as well, and I love our military! I can relate first hand with the sacrifices the men and women in uniform make on a daily basis while they serving our country.  Many continue to pay the price for those sacrifices the rest of their lives.

Second Round of Recalls for Toyota, Lexus Models for Suspension Failure


Filings with the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration have brought about the second recall of nearly 781,000 cars to fix suspension components that can break loose.

This recall is for the same 780,584 cars that have already been recalled in the United States.  The 2006-2011 Toyota RAV4 and the 2010 Lexus HS 250h are recalled again for loose nuts that attach the rear suspension arm to the wheels.

If these nuts are loose, the threads on the arm can rust, causing the entire arm to fracture or separate, which in turn can hamper the vehicle’s alignment and cause it to leave the desired lane.  The initial Toyota recall of these vehicles was in August 2012 after a two-month NHTSA investigation.  470 complaints and warranty claims alleging failure of the rear suspension arm were filed and at least nine crashes and three injuries are related to the problem.

Toyota states that the previous recall was “not adequate” and “portions of the repair procedure may not have been performed correctly”.  This latest recall will require dealers to replace the rear lower suspension arms an seal them with epoxy, effectively making the alignment permanent.

This latest recall was issued by Toyota on September 4th, 2013 but dealers have limited parts and may not be able to complete the repairs until February 2014.  Owners should check with the auto maker at or for a dealer letter to find out when parts may be available in your state.  Or you can call 800-331-4331 for Toyota or 800-255-3987 for Lexus.

Oil Change Services at Aspen Auto Clinic Not Average


Getting an Oil Change from Aspen Auto Clinic in Denver is NOT just an average oil change.  There is so much more that goes into an oil change at our premiere “dealership alternative” full-service centers.

At Aspen Auto Clinic your safety is one of our top priorities and we make sure that every vehicle we see is safe to be on the road.   All Oil Change Services at Aspen Auto Clinic are far from average.  Our full Oil Change Service takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete.

Whether you schedule an appointment or just pop in, you will be greeted by one of our friendly, professionals.   Then one of our Service Advisors will check in your vehicle and get your updated information and ask if there are any concerns you have with your vehicle at this time.  You are welcome to stay and wait in one of our comfortable customer lounges if you’d like and enjoy a complimentary beverage and/or a snack. We also have FREE Wi-Fi and TV available for you.  If you would rather,  we can give you a ride to home or work with our FREE shuttle service and even pick you up when your car is ready!  We offer these services to lessen the inconvenience of being without your vehicle.

Once your car is checked into the shop, one of our excellent ASE Certified Technicians starts the process for your Oil Change and Filter Service.  Your vehicle not ONLY gets an oil change but it  also includes a visual courtesy inspection.

This inspection focuses a lot on several important safety aspects of your car or truck.  The visual courtesy inspection includes checking the exterior lights and wiper blades, interior lights and warning lights.  The technicians also check for any abnormal noises the vehicle may be making.  We also inspect the battery and terminals, air filter, all of the belts and hoses, and the throttle body.  Then under the vehicle we do a visual inspection of both the front and rear brake system, brake hoses, steering components, CV/U-joints, shocks, struts, exhaust system, condition of each of your tires for wear, balance and alignment issues.  We also inspect, check and replenish the vital fluids for your vehicle to include windshield washer fluid, engine oil, transmission fluid, front differential, rear differential, transfer case, and radiator coolant.  We also check the power steering fluid and brake fluid.

The technician records their findings on the  inspection sheet and  also notes any other recommendation he may have as well as the manufacturers recommendations for services that may be due on your vehicle.

It is our job at Aspen Auto Clinic to keep you informed about your vehicle and especially to inform you if we detect any safety issues with your car.  If you ever have a question about your vehicle we are happy to answer them.  We will even take you in the back to see your car and the technician so you can see first hand our inspection results.

If for some reason there are some repairs that need to be addressed, you can be assured that all of the work that we perform on your vehicle is backed by our 3 year/36,ooo mile warranty.

We do take longer than a quick lube type business for your oil change but we also provide you with the very best in service, education, and expert ASE Certified Technicians in Littleton and Centennial/Englewood Colorado areas.

Aspen Auto Repair Denver Supports ICE System

No one likes to think about all the things that could go wrong in life but things do happen.  There are times when a terrible accident occurs and those involved can’t communicate with the rescuers or first responders to give them emergency contact information.

In the local Denver, CO area there are people you’ll want to be contacted to give consent to treatment, arrange help, and inform paramedics of any medical conditions, allergies you may have, or medications you are taking.

Aspen Auto Clinic, with two local South Denver area full-service maintenance and repair centers, fully supports the ICE program.  One of their main concerns with customer vehicles is safety and ICE  can save a life when used properly.

All too often, our Colorado police and rescuers have to sift through wallets, purses, glove compartments, and cell phone contacts and directories for clues taking precious time away from life-saving measures the victims need.

There is an excellent and brilliant solution that only takes a few minutes to implement that is spreading across the world, ICE. ICE – standing for In Case of Emergency, is a way to identify emergency contacts in your cell phone directory.

Simply put ‘ICE’ before a contact name in your cell phone, like ‘ICE – Dad’, ‘ICE – John’, or ‘ICE – Doctor Roberts’. Rescuers will be able to quickly identify your emergency contacts, saving valuable time.

Bob Brotchie, a Cambridge, England paramedic came up with the idea and started a promotional campaign in England in 2005. This powerful idea is now being heavily promoted in the United States and other countries.  Colorado Springs, CO is no exception.  First responders are all too aware of  how many times they are unable to find a wallet or purse on an accident victim, yet most people are seldom without their cell phone.

There are some national and world-wide disaster data-bases you can join too but particiaption in some can cost up to $200

It really  is an easy, effective way to make sure important people are informed if there is an emergency and just takes a few minutes.  Designate some ICE contacts in your cell phone TODAY. If your kids have cell phones, set this up for them and explain the ICE program to them too. Remember to keep the listings up to date.

Starting with focus on your local area first is a great place to start.  Do you have friends or family in the Littleton, Englewood, or Centennial areas?  Check with them first and be sure they know about the ICE program and remind them to update their contacts.

We had a full day of activities at Bandimere Speedway!  Lots of food, a private suite at the starting line compliments of Colorado Petroleum with the catering and beverages!  Tons of races to watch and we ended the evening with a huge fireworks show for the 4th of July!

All the kids made new friends and we got to know our customers even better!  Thank you for coming out and spending Independence Day with us!

Matthew is a Colorado native and is recently back here from the Las Vegas area.  Matthew relocated to join our Aspen Team and brings with him his gorgeous wife Tori, and two beautiful children Jackson and Mackenzi.  He began his career in the hospitality industry in restaurant and food service where he learned exceptional high customer service skills.  In 2005, he decided to combine what he learned in the hospitality industry with his passion of automobiles and made a major career change.  With his wife’s encouragement and support he has been able to spread his wings in the automotive industry “working diligently to create the memorable experiences that I have for my customers and my employees.” Matthew shared with us.

Littleton, Colorado is now home for Aspen Auto Clinic’s sixth location!  We opened our doors for business at our new home on July 16, 2013  and are excited to be in the Littleton area to serve the following communities:  Littleton, Columbine, Columbine Valley, Lakewood, Ken Caryl, Morrison, and Conifer.

Just like our other locations, our Aspen Auto Clinic – Littleton store is a “Dealership Alternative” for you and your vehicle.  We provide the same services that the Dealers do only we do it better!  We also offer a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on our parts and labor, three times more warranty than any dealer provides!  All of our technicians are factory trained and ASE Certified and we back their quality work as well as the quality parts that we use.

Following Your Vehicle’s Recommended Service Intervals

If you are in the Denver or Front Range region of Colorado and you are reading this article, then you most likely care about your car and that it runs smoothly and efficiently.   Even though you care, most of us still have that moment of dread when your service advisor tells you that the manufacturer of your vehicle recommends some additional service.  Your heart beats a little faster, your blood pressure rises, and you start to worry about spending more money than you eygyxpected.

You also start worrying that if you say “no” to these recommendations, you might be harming your car or compromising safety.

I’ll take the risk here of sounding like your dad, but you really should have done your homework.  All of this stuff is actually in your owners manual.  But who actually reads those?  I bet it’s not on your nightstand for your bedtime reading, right?

Cars are complicated machines and it takes care to keep them in  good running order.  That is why manufacturers have maintenance schedules that explain how to keep your vehicle performing efficiently and prevent costly break downs.  In a typical owners manual, you will find:  oil change, brake fluid and pad change, coolant system service, transmission service, battery electrolyte levels, cables and terminals, tire pressure, and wear, CV boots, cabin air filter, air conditioning, heater, fuel filter, air filter, belts and hoses, power steering fluid, differential service, fuel system cleaning, and wheel alignment.  And then there are mechanical service requirements like timing belt changes, steering function, engine and exhaust leaks, valve adjustment, – yes, the list is really long!

Thank goodness, this isn’t a test and you don’t need to have it all memorized either!  At Aspen Auto Clinic we have access to you manufacturer’s recommendations.  So do not be surprised when your ASE Certified Technician at Aspen reminds you that something is due on your vehicle.  Your manufacturer has taken great care in putting together your maintenance schedule.  Let Aspen Auto Clinic help you stay on top of important maintenance.  We also have an easy system you can sign up to use to track your vehicle history with us too and you can get email reminders to help you stay on schedule as well.  You can expect your service advisor to suggest recommended services and tell you what problems they find under the hood if any do come up.  We’ll also explain how urgent these services are so you can work them into your budget and lessen your stress.
